Experience the Art — Guided Writing with Qalam and Ink

Join us at the Deccan Arts booth for an immersive Arabic calligraphy experience at the NZ Halal Show 2025. Our guided workshops offer a hands-on introduction to the timeless art of calligraphy — perfect for beginners and art enthusiasts alike.

Participants will have the opportunity to write using traditional Bamboo Qalam and ink, learn how to prepare a traditional inkpot guided step-by-step by the artist. Practice sheets will be provided to help you master basic strokes and letter forms while discovering the beauty and rhythm of Naskh and Thuluth script.

You’ll also get to try a wide range of unique Qalam — including Celi, Javi, and metal nib pens — each offering a distinct writing style and flow.
